The Golden Mile extra race to Coober Pedy 750 klm’s at a cost of $100 per bird, to be raced on Sunday the 30th of August weather permitting. Prize money to be worked out based on entries less transport and training costs. Just over 60 birds entered so far.

We did road training today from just short of Lochiel 120 kms into a 10 klm head wind. They did very well, landing in around 1-hour 25mins, another short toss early next week and we should be good to go. Note a few members that have not answered as yet still went on the training.

The rules thus far subject to change.

The Golden Mile season 2027 will consist of three races up to 530 kms approximately, dates to be advised, using our own transport to give more flexibility.

$400 per bird, one free entry per eight birds entered. In cases where a member does not lose any of their eight birds, they will have the option to pay for the spare to be entered in their team. Where a team loses a bird, the spare will be activated at no charge. Spares will only be activated before the first race. Whether a team has one entry or more they will all go under the same team’s name. eg Gilmour Family 24 birds.

Entries for 2027

The intake will be Saturday the 14th of November until Monday the 14th of December. Mating of your birds should be the first week of September.

No exceptions will be made. Please send birds to airport to be picked up on Saturday mornings where possible. Owners from 2026 will have first option to enter in 2027 then we will open it up to all non-members. At completion of the season 2027 birds will be sent home upon request via text or email, the responsibility is with the owner to book flights where necessary and advise when to take to airport.

Every bird will be vaccinated for PMV on arrival, then Rota a fortnight after, then repeated two weeks apart.

Ventilation in each bay will be added. Extra fly outs will also be added for more room.

Prize money will be determined by entries less expenses.

The main race this year was 1st prize was $50,000, 2nd $20,000 3rd $10,000 down to $1500 for 10th, we expect this to be same.
