lst SAHPA Morundah (2)

Peter Antoney

When former Policeman Peter Antoney won the second Morundah in 2003 his story was not unfamiliar.

He raced Pigeons as a Boy, gave them away to concentrate on a Career and Family and then awakened the slumbering giant when time and space became available.

Peter lives at Gawler West, near the Trotting Track, and freely admits he can't get near the Aces in his Club in the faster North Races.

When it come to the steadier ones, his Loft come alive, with seven Club wins in the past two Seasons.

Peter says it's the strong competition that's led to Gawler becoming the Winning area of Adelaide in recent years.

"There's no doubt we sometimes have an advantage due to Race-day conditions, but not enough to explain the extraordinary run we've had in recent years" he says.

"Its blokes like Alan Brown and former Sydney Fed. Points Winner Lindsay Smith that have shaken our Club up."

Peter bought his Association Winner for $10.00 at a ParaMorth-East Sale.

She had been bred by Maurie Kakoschke.

As a baby she flew the 17 hour Marla and was switched as a two-year-old to the East Line. That's standard practice for Peter Antoney's Pigeons. An easier first year and then serious work when they're Mature.

She showed she was on Target with a Mittyack placing early in the Season.

Peter also finished third and seventh in the Booroorban SA Derby.

After 12 years serious flying Peter Antoney now has the experience and Birds to be a force for many years to come.
