MINUTES OF THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc. HEADQUARTERS ON MONDAY 17th JULY 2006 – 7.30 pm. 1. CHAIRPERSON OPENED MEETING AT: 7.35 pm Attendance: Mr. D. Thalbourne (Chairperson), Mr. P. Couzner, Mr. F. DiMella, Mr. J. Marafiote, Mr. W. Moyle, Mr. K. Pridham, Mr. R. Seedsman (General Secretary), Mrs. C. Myers (Assistant Secretary. 2. APOLOGIES: Nil 3. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: Moved/Seconded/Carried 4. BUSINESS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MEETING: Mr. K. Pridham enquired as to Club’s Hampering arrangements in regards to S.A.H.P.A. Races in respect to the number of Members present. Moved/Seconded/Carried 5. TREASURER’S MONTHLY REPORT: The Treasurer presented his Report for the period 1st December 2005 through to the 30th June 2006. The Report indicates that a Profit has been recorded for this period and is mainly due to the increase in Bird Nominations along with an increase in income from the Training Unit in respect to the previous year. 6. CORRESPONDENCE IN: 1. Letter from the Elizabeth Club – Advising that Mr. M. Shepherdson has become a Financial Member for the 2006 Season. Action: Secretary to update Membership list. 2. Convoyer’s Reports – Hawker 2 & 3, Pinnaroo 1. 3. Letter re the Winding up of the Original Gawler River Club – Advising that all outstanding accounts have been paid (receipts enclosed) and all remaining Club Funds have been donated to the Women’s & Children’s Hospital. 4. Email from Mr. Ben Vardaro (Planning Inspector) Pt Adelaide/ Enfield Council – Seeking advice as to the Association having Restrictions in relation to Bird Numbers kept by our Members. Action: Secretary advised Mr. Vardaro that the Association has no Restrictions as such, but our Members are expected to abide by the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Code of Practice in regards to Cleanliness, Birds not Being a nuisance to Neighbours etc., and that the Association is Willing to be of assistance if required. 5. Minutes of Promotion Sub-Committee Meeting – held on 26th June 2006. Points of Interest Ø The Committee are concerned that Club Secretaries are not passing information on to Members. Ø Mr. W. March confirmed he has made contact with the Murray Bridge High School. Ø Contact Nova to confirm if the Promotion Race is off of their agenda. Ø Reply from Nova advising that they still wish to pursue a Promotional Pigeon Race. 6. Letter from the Taxation Office – Advising of a Review of Tax Compliance in the Hotel and Club Industry. Action: Secretary to Investigate. 7. Letter from the Adelaide Airport – Enclosing information Sheets in relation to Bird Strike and Safety. Action: Information Sheets have been distributed to Clubs for their Interest. 8. Email from Mr. John Capel – With details of a short transcript that he would like to Publish in the Australian Pigeon Journal in regards to Mr. W. Walford. Action: The Management Committee endorse Mr. John Capel’s transcript. 9. Quotation from Del Mastro Printing – Printing of the S.A.H.P.A. Inc.Year Book. Action: Secretary to advise that the quotation was Unsuccessful. 10. Quotation from Abbotts Printers – Printing of the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Year Book. Action: Secretary to advise that the quotation has been Successful. 11. Letter from the Para Hills Community Inv. Racing Pigeon Club & Southern Vales Inv. Racing Pigeon Club - Objecting to the Management Committees’ decision of naming the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Headquarters, the “Bill Walford Hall”. The Club feels that the decision should have been made at the A.G.M. Action: The Management Committee stand by their decision, and in accordance with the Constitution are only obliged to ratify the induction of Life Members at the A.G.M. The Management Committee endorsed the naming of the Hall as the “Bill Walford Hall” with sincerity, respect and without prejudice for the Large Contribution that Mr. Bill Walford has made to the Association. 12. Minutes of the Adelaide 10,000 Meeting – held on 28th June 2006. Points of Interest Ø Ace Series Toss was conducted on the 9th July. Ø All Nominators should have received Results and Paperwork for the Roxby Downs Race to be conducted on Sunday 30th July 2006. Ø Raffle Prizes to be organized. Ø Letter of Thankyou sent to Sponsors. 13. Email from Special Races Committee. 1. Requesting the approval of a Lyndhurst Prelude Race in conjunction with the Lyndhurst Y.B.C. This request was brought about by the re-scheduling of the 2006 Race Program which eliminates the Twins as a lead-up Race for the Alice Springs Event. Action: The Management Committee have Approved the request with the Prelude Birds being released One (1) hour after the Derby Birds. 2. Minutes of the Special Races Committee Meetings held in May & June. Points of Interest Alice Springs – 2006 Ø Birds are to be flown to Alice Springs by Qantus Airlines. Ø Cost per Bird - $20.00 Ø Hampering to take place on Wednesday Night instead of Tuesday. Ø Extra Hampers need to be ordered – approach S.A.H.P.A. Inc. regarding the purchasing of three (3) Hampers. Action: The Management Committee have approved the purchase of three (3) Hampers to assist the S.R.C. 14. Letter from Kym Jones – Exhibitions Events – Inviting the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. to participate in the 2007 Animal Expo to be held on Saturday 10th – Monday 12th March 2007. Action: All relevant information will be forwarded to the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Promotions Sub-Committee for their attention. 7. CORRESPONDENCE OUT: 1. Letter to North Suburban Pigeon Club – Advising of Approval to Conduct their Sires Produce Races in conjunction with the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Derbies. 2. Email to the Promotions Sub-Committee – In response to the “Ace Series” Competition and the distribution of Order Forms for Pigeon Apparel to Members. 3. Letter to Mr. W. Walford – Advising him of the Management Committees’ decision to Name the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Headquarters’ Hall the “Bill Walford Hall”. 4. Facsimile to Del Mastro Printing – Requesting a Quotation for the Printing of the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. 2005Year Book. 5. To Abbotts Printers – Requesting a Quotation for the Printing of the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. 2005 Year Book. Moved/Carried – Correspondence In & Out – Confirmed 8. MATTERS HELD OVER: 1. Clock Reading Night at S.A.H.P.A. Inc. The Management Committee have decided to extend an Invitation to all Clubs who would like to participate in a Social Evening at S.A.H.P.A. Headquarters on Sunday 1st October 2006. The evening will include the Reading, Processing of Clocks for the Coober Pedy Event. B.B.Q. & Salads will be supplied. 2. S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Electorates. The Management Committee have decided not to alter the Member participation per Electorate at this stage, with a review of Electorates in 2007. 9. GENERAL BUSINESS: 1. Pigeon Apparel: There has been some response from Members with regards to the Purchase of Pigeon Apparel (Caps & Shirts). If there are any Members who are interested in the purchase of Cap/s or Polo Shirt/s, can register their interest by completing the existing form forwarded to Clubs recently, or request a form from the General Secretary. 2. Presentation Evening: Mrs. C. Myers is in the process of booking a Venue. 3. Bird Qualification – North Derby: Members are reminded that all birds that fly the Lyndhurst Y.B.C. on the 12th August 2006 – must have had at least one (1) Club Race on the North Line. 10.
