MINUTES OF THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc. HEADQUARTERS ON MONDAY 18TH DECEMBER 2006 – 7.30 PM 1. CHAIRPERSON OPENED MEETING AT: 7.35 pm Attendance: Mr. D. Thalbourne (Chairperson), Mr. P. Couzner, Mr. F. DiMella, Mr. W. Moyle, Mr. K. Pridham, Mr. R. Seedsman ( General Secretary), Mrs. C. Myers (Assistant Secretary). 2. APOLOGIES: Mr. J Marafiote 3. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: Moved/Seconded/Carried 4. BUSINESS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MEETING: Mr. K. Pridham raised concerns as to the abolishment of the Bird Qualification Rule – especially in respect to Young Bird Qualification for S.A.H.P.A. Derbies. Moved/Seconded/Carried 5. CORRESPONDENCE IN: 1. Email from the Para Invitation Homing Club – Notice of Motion for Members consideration at the 2007 A.G.M. – to fly the North West and South East Lines of Flight for the 2007 Season. Action: Secretary to advise a full list of Notice of Motions for Members consideration in due process in accordance with the S.A.H.P.A Inc. Constitution. 2. Email from the Promotions Sub-Committee – Minutes of the Meeting held on 28th November 2006. Points of Interest Ø Apparel selling o.k. considering the opportunity. Ø The Hiring of Plasma Screen too expensive Ø No confirmation at this stage on the Banner Stands Ø “8” Ball Competition has been approved (in principle) by the Management Committee – more information will be placed in the Newsletter for interested members. Ø A new Pigeon Display pen will be built. Ø Promotions brochures are up to date. Ø A float will be given to the Promotions Sub-committee Ø David will look at the cost of purchasing pens (biros) to give away at the animal Expo with the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. insignia. Ø Michael to approach schools to obtain permission to release birds (recess periods) to seek interest from Students. Ø Suggestion of inviting various schools to the S.AH.P.A Inc. Hall, have a Sausage Sizzle, run DVD’s to encourage public awareness. 3. Letter from the Campbelltown Homing Pigeon Club – Notice of Motion for Members consideration at the 2007 A.G.M. – to have a Thirty (30) Maximum Bird Limit for all Races carrying Association Points for the 2007 Season and beyond. Action: Secretary to advise a full list of Notice of Motions for Members consideration in due process in accordance with the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Constitution. 4. Email from Mr. D. Walker – Expressing that he would be quite Happy to commence work on the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Year Book. Action: Secretary to forward all relevant contact details and existing Club/Group Information to Mr. D. Walker. 5. Letter from Para Hills Community Inv. Racing Pigeon Club – Expressing their disappointment in regards to the last two (2) Races on the Program being cancelled. Action: The Management Committee express their reasons for the cancellation of the last two (2) Races on the Race Program – was in respect for the Welfare of the Birds under the present and continuing Drought Conditions. 6. Letter from the Central Districts Racing Pigeon Club – Advising Office Bearers for the 2007 Season. – Chairperson – Mr. P. Couzner, Secretary/Treasurer – Mr. C. Nagle. 7. Letter from Mr. T. Langsford – Voicing his concerns with raising The price of Lice Rings to accumulate Prize-money, and also the Voluntary Member Contribution to establish a Pool of Prize-money for Contributors to Race for. *(As mentioned in the Minutes (Under General Business) for the Meeting held on 27th November 2006) Mr Langsford feels these concepts will undermine Group Flying. Action: The Management Committee have no intentions of undermining Group Flying. These suggestions have been initiated by some Members of the relevant Electorates for the Management Committees’ consideration. 6. CORRESPONDENCE OUT: 1. Letter to the Southern Vales Invitation Racing Pigeon Club Inc. – Regarding the Clubs concern in respect to small Splinter Clubs/Groups While in the process of Hampering and Clock Reading for S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Races. 2. Letter to the North Suburban Invitation Homing Pigeon Club – Regarding the Clubs’ request to have the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. 2006 Aggregate Points abolished. 3. Email to Mr. D. Walker – Enquiring as to his thoughts regarding the initiation of the S.A.H.P.A. inc Year Book in the hope that other Member/s may come on board in the near future. 4. Email to the Para Invitation Racing Pigeon Club – Advising that the Management Committee have decided to abolish all Bird Qualification Rules for the 2007 Season. 5. Completed Site Booking Form – for the 2007 Animal Expo faxed To Kym Jones Exhibitions & Events. 6. Letters to all Association Helpers – Thanking them for their assistance for the 2006 Season. Moved/Carried – Correspondence In & Out - Confirmed 7. GENERAL BUSINESS: 1. 2007 – CLUB MEMBERSHIP FORMS: CLUB SECRETARIES – PLEASE NOTE! Club Membership Forms will be forwarded in early January 2007 Capitation Fees for the 2007 Season have been set at $55.00 per Member. 2. REMINDER – S.A.H.P.A. Inc. OFFICE BEARER POSITIONS In Accordance with S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Rules Nominations are now called for the Following Positions: General Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer & Ring Secretary. Nominations must be in the Hands of the General Secretary by Friday 12th January 2007 – All Applicants must be Financial Members of the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. A List of General Secretary’s Duties is available by phoning 8262 3856. All other Duties and Honorariums will be discussed with the Management Committee and Treasurer at a Later Date. REMINDER – THE CHAIRPERSON & VICE-CHAIRPERSON VACANCIES: The General Secretary is now calling for Applications from Interested Persons for the Positions of Association Chairperson and Vice- Chairperson. These Positions will be voted on by the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Membership. Applications close on Friday 29th December 2006 All Applicants must be Financial Members of the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Applications to be addressed to: The General Secretary 10 Baulderstone Road Gepps Cross SA 5094 5 NOTICE OF MOTIONS: A List of Management Committee & Clubs “NOTICE OF MOTION” for Members’ consideration, will be forwarded to Members along with the advice of the 2007 A.G.M. 6. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE ELECTION: Nominations for the Northern Electorate Representatives on the Management Committee have now closed. Two (2) Nominations have been received – Mr. Phil Couzner and Mr. Greg Hamilton. Ballot Papers will be forwarded to the Northern Electorate Members in the near future for their consideration. 7. RETURNING OFFICER: The Management Committee have approved Mrs. C. Myers as the Returning Officer for the forthcoming Electoral Ballots. The Returning Officer’s Role is to obtain all Ballot Papers from the General Secretary and to count and record all votes cast by Members. 8. FINAL DISTRIBUTION OF CERTIFICATES: The General Secretary has forwarded all outstanding top (30) Association Race Certificates to the Secretary of the respective Clubs. 9.
