MINUTES OF THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc HEADQUARTERS ON MONDAY 10TH OCTOBER 2005 – 7.30 P.M. 1. BUSINESS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MEETING: Nil Moved/Seconded/Carried 5. GUEST – MR G. WATSON: Promotion of the Sport The Chairperson Mr. D. Thalbourne welcomed Mr. G. Watson to the meeting. Mr Watson expressed his views regarding different ways that the Association could promote the Sport – especially targeting Primary School age Children. Mr Watson backed up his views with information that he has received from the American Pigeon Union, who have been working very hard to encourage people to participate in Pigeon Racing though out the United States. Mr Watson would like to set up a Sub-Committee to put a Promotional Package together to take into our Primary Schools, in an attempt to encourage Juniors into the Sport. The Management Committee endorsed Mr Watson’s views, and therefore would like to hear from Members who would be interested in being a part of the Promotional Sub-Committee to initiate this concept. TREASURER’S MONTHLY REPORT: The Treasurer presented his Report for the period 1st December 2004 through to the 30th September 2005. The Report indicates a Profit has been recorded for this period, and taking into consideration outstanding Freight Charges, Honorariums and the G.S.T. Payment for the last quarter, the Association should record a Profit for 2005 Season. 7. CORRESPONDENCE IN: 1. Convoyer’s Reports for – Moulamein Open, Coober Pedy 1, Booroorban Open 1, Coober Pedy 2, Booroorban Open 2. Action: Secretary to file. 2. Letter from “The Copier Shop” – Advising of a Rise in Maintenance Costs to the S.A.H.P.A. Inc., with regards to the Associations’ Photocopying Machine. Reasons given for the Increase is the age of the Machine, the availability & cost of the Spare Parts, Fuel, Utilities and Insurance. 3. Letter from Mr. M. Agar (Solicitor) – Replying to the Associations’ Request in regards to the Code of Practice. Action: The General Secretary to address the Changes that Mr. M. Agar has recommended, and reply to the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee. 4. Email & Drug Screening Certificate from Racing Analytical Services - The Results of Mr. M. Taylor’s Drug Test indicated that there were no Prohibited Substances detected. Action: Copy of the Results forwarded to Mr. M. Taylor. 5. Letter from Mr. T. Langsford – Explaining further his thoughts as to the last two (2) Races on the Race Program. Action: The Management Committee thank Mr. T. Langsford for his Proposal, and will give it consideration when the Nomination Fees for the 2006 Race Program are being finalized. 6. Letter from Mr I Durrant – Expressing his views with regards to the 2006 Race Program. Action: The Management Committee thank Mr. I. Durrant for his views in regards to starting the East Line Races later In the Season. 8. CORRESPONDENCE OUT: 1. Letter to Mr. R. Fewings (Secretary – Nth. Suburban Club) - Advising of the Management Committees’ Decision in regards to the Appeal by a Members over a Three (3) Race Disqualification. 2. Letter to North Suburban Member – Relating to the outcome of his Appeal against a three (3) Race Disqualification handed down by his Club. 3. Letter to Mr. T. Langsford (Secretary Southern Vales Club) – In response to his Clubs’ correspondence regarding the 2006 Race Program. 4. Letter to Mr. G. Watson – Inviting him to the Management Committee Meeting to be held on Monday 10th October 2005. 5. Facsimile to Mr Kym Jones – Completed Site Booking Form for the 2006 Animal Expo. 6. Letter to Racing Analytical Services – Request for Tests to be carried out on Racing Pigeon Sample for Performance Enhancing Drugs. 7. Letter to Mr. M. Taylor – Results of the Drug Testing of his Birds carried out by Racing Analytical Services. 8. Letter to Mr. M. Agar (Solicitor) – Seeking his Advice regarding the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Forthcoming Management Committee Election – Southern Electorate: Glenelg, Happy Valley, Hyde Park, Millswood, Southern Districts, South Suburban & Southern Vales. Applications are now called for the Position on the Management Committee to Represent the Southern Electorate that will be vacated By Mr. W. Moyle. (Mr. W. Moyle is eligible to stand again) Nominations for Election to the Committee of Management shall be in Writing and Signed by the Nominee and two (2) other Members of the Said Electorate.
