MINUTES OF THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc. HEADQUARTERS ON MONDAY 23rd OCTOBER 2006 – 7.30 PM 1. CHAIRPERSON OPENED MEETING AT: 7.30 pm Attendance: Mr. D. Thalbourne ( Chairperson), Mr. P. Couzner, Mr. F. DiMella, Mr. J. Marafiote, Mr. W. Moyle, Mr. K. Pridham, Mr. R. Seedsman (General Secretary), Mrs. C. Myers (Assistant Secretary). 2. TREASURER’S MONTHLY REPORT: The Treasurer presented an up to date Report for the period 1st December through to the 23rd October, and gave a quick review of the Financial Position at the present time, with a full review of the Associations’ Financial position to be held over until the next meeting as the Associations’ Financial Year comes to a close. 6. CORRESPONDENCE IN: 1. Letter from the Southern Vales Inv. Racing Pigeon Club Inc. - requesting that the Management Committee Police the loading of Birds on the Main Unit. The Club feels that their Birds are continually being loaded in the lowest bays. Action: Secretary to investigate the Club’s concerns via the Loading Sheets for all 2006 Races and respond. 2. Letter from the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of S.A. Inc. – thanking the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. for their Sponsorship in respect to The Royal Adelaide Show. 3. Letter from Alex Hodges (Lavender Greens) Birdwood – expressing her concerns with the timing of long distance Race Releases In respect to the differing Weather Forecasts for Saturdays and Sundays. Action: The Association has every faith in the Release Panel in respect to the consideration of the Birds Welfare and the endeavour to conduct successful Races. 4. Convoyer Reports – Booroorban & Lyndhurst. Action: Secretary to file. 5. From the Para Hills Community Inv. Racing Pigeon Club - A copy of the Letter that they have sent to Mr. J. Nisbet in regards To his Application to join the Club as a Social Member for 2006. Action: The Management Committee thank the Para Hills Club for Responding. 6. Email from Mr. R. Caesarowicz – attaching some Race Program suggestions/possibilities prompted by our severe & continuing Drought problems, also Congratulating the Management Committee for their decision of primarily looking to the Welfare of the Birds. Action: The Management Committee thank Mr R Caesarowicz for his suggestions And can assure him that all decisions are made to protect the Welfare Of the Birds. 7. Email from the Promotions Sub-Committee – attaching Minutes of Meeting held on 3rd October 2006. Points of Interest Ø Thankyou to Dave & Sofia Thalbourne for their input into the Sale of the Polo Shirts & Caps. Ø Animal Expo suggestions on improving the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Presentation. (Banners, DVD Screens, Pigeon Cages, Brochures). Ø Ace Series Certificate Design. 8. Email from Racing Analytical Services Ltd – Attaching Results of Mr. F. DiMella’s Test Results. The Test Results indicates that no Prohibited Substances detected. 9. Email from Special Races Committee – Outlining events leading up to the Release and their reasoning behind the unsuccessful 2006 Alice Springs Event. Action: The Management Committee thank the Special Races Committee for their Report regarding the 2006 Alice Springs Event, and have offered any assistance required in the future to avoid bad results. 10. Letter from Mr J Hofman – Outlining issues and changes he believes that the Association may have to make for the successful completion of the Race Program in respect to the future problems associated with Climate change. Action: The Management Committee thank Mr Hofman for his thoughts. 11. Letter from Mr G Kakoschke – in relation to the 2006 Alice Springs Event. Action: The Management Committee thank Mr Kakoschke for his thoughts. 12. Wayne & Brenton Myers – Trophy Donation. Action: The Management Committee Thank Wayne & Brenton Myers for their Donation for future seasons of a Trophy for “ Outstanding Performance” on behalf of the late Mr Brian Healy. 7. CORRESPONDENCE OUT: 1. Chubb Security Australia – Signed Security Contract faxed for the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Premises. 2. Letter to Para Hills Community Inv. Racing Pigeon Club – Regarding Mr. J. Nisbet’s Application to join their Club as a Social Member being rejected. 3. Letter to Mr. J. PIGEON POX VACCINATION – 2007 All Members please be aware – The Vaccination of Pigeons for the 2007 Season is Compulsory. 3. FORTHCOMING MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE ELECTION NORTHERN ELECTORATE Barossa Valley, Centrals, Elizabeth, Gawler River, Para & Smithfield Applications are now called for the Position on the Management Committee to Represent the Northern Electorate that will be vacated by Mr. P. Couzner. (Mr. P. Couzner is eligible to stand again) Nominations for Election to the Committee of Management shall be in Writing and Signed by the Nominee and two (2) other Members of the Said Electorate. Inc YEAR BOOK: All Clubs/Groups who have any information for Publishing in the 2006 Year Book have until the 30th November 2006 to forward this Information to the General Secretary. The Association would like to hear from any Member/s who would be able to take on the Role of formulating the 2006 S.A.H.PA. Inc.Year Book. All enquiries to the General Secretary. 5. CANTEEN HONORARIUM: The Management Committee have approved an Honorarium - $500.00 to Dave & Sophia Thalbourne for their services in the running of the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Canteen. 8. LIFE RINGS: The Management Committee have approved the enlargement of future S.A.H.P.A. Inc Life Rings from 8mm diameter to 9mm diameter – addressing the situation in regards to the comfort aspect associated with the size of rings in respect to the Birds. 9. MEETING CLOSED: 11.00 pm 10.
