MINUTES OF THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
MEETING HELD AT THE S.A.H.P.A. Inc. HEADQUARTERS
ON MONDAY 20th AUGUST 2007 – 7.30 pm

1. CHAIRPERSON OPENED MEETING AT:   7.30 pm  Attendance:  Mr D Thalbourne (Chairperson), Mr F DiMella, Mr J Marafiote, Mr W Moyle, Mr K Pridham, Mr R Seedsman (General Secretary), Mrs C Myers (Assistant Secretary).

5. TREASURER’S MONTHLY REPORT:

The Treasurer presented his Report for the period 1st December 2006 through to the 31st July 2007.

The Report indicates a Profit has been recorded for the period, largely due to the extra Income from Freight Nominations and the S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Training Unit – along with the offset of a decrease in Expenditure in respect for the same period last year.

6. CORRESPONDENCE IN:

1. Convoyer’s Reports – Nhill 1 & 2, Lyndhurst  Y.B.C. Warracknabeal S.A.D. , Lyndhurst & Wedderburn 8 Bird & The Twins.

2. Email from Stephanie Bolt (Adelaide & Parafield Airport’s Environment Manager) – regarding a large flock of Homing Pigeons sighted in the Aircraft Eastern Approach Path at Adelaide Airport.  Action:  Secretary to investigate Bird activity with S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Members in the area.

3. Letter from the Torrens Valley Combine – Requesting that a Member whose Clock malfunctioned and gained permission to Hamper his Birds for the North Derby with North Suburban Club be ineligible for any Group Placing Status.  Action:  Torrens Valley Combine’s request has been rejected, as the correct procedure was followed under the circumstances, and the request is not in the best interest of the Sport.

4. Email from Adelaide Hills Club – requesting the Management Committee alter their decision in regards to Clubs/Groups having six (6) Competing Members whilst hampering & clock reading.  Action:  The Management Committee are sympathetic to the Adelaide Hill’s Clubs situation, but have decided the six (6) Competing Member Rule must be upheld.

5. Minutes of Meetings for the Special Races Committee – Tuesday 3rd July & Monday 13th August.  Action:  Minutes to be distributed to all Club Secretaries for Members attention.

Points of Interest

Alice Springs – 1st Prize - $1500.00.  Birds will be transported to Alice Springs by Road.

Charlie Forbes & Bob Hill have been approved as Conveyers.

6. Email from Mr P Couzner (Chairperson – Northern Group) – Requesting that
The Management Committee investigate Mr C Moukas’s action on Friday 17th August 2007 in regards to the Sires Produce Race.  Action:  Mr C Moukas has no jurisdiction over any Races conducted under the Auspices of the S.A.H.P.A. Inc.

7. Letter from Mr B Goold – Apology for the Lines of Flight Meeting to be held on 29th August 2007, and outlining his reasons.  Action:  Secretary to note apology.

7. CORRESPONDENCE OUT:

1. Letters to all Club Secretaries – Advising of Hampering R.B.L. 23 &
C.B.L. 8 with respect to the Management Committee decision that any Club/Group not having six (6) Competing Members for Hampering, Clock Reading, must Hamper & Read Clocks with their nearest Club/Group.

2. Letter to Mr G Watson – Advising of the Management Committees’ endorsement of Mr I Wareing for Life Membership, and the Management Committees’ approval for Mr I Wareing’s inauguration to the Wall of Fame.

Information in regards to the booking of a site for the S.A.H.P.A. Inc’s participation in the 2008 Animal Expo sent to Mr Watson for his attention.

3. Email to Mr A Agar – In response to his suggestion regarding the retrieval of lost birds being reported to the General Public, and advising him of the Management Committees’ approval with regards to the initiation of an Association Logo.

4. Email to the Special Races Committee – Advising that the Management Committee have approved the 2008 Sires Produce Race to be conducted from Wilcannia.

5. Letters to all Members – Advising of list of “Notice of Motions” for consideration at the Special General Line/s of Flight Meeting to be held on Wednesday 29th August 2007.

Mrs C Myers carrying out further Investigations regarding suitable Venues.

2. S.A.H.P.A. Inc. ELECTORATES:  (Delegates Meeting)

The Electorate Representatives on the Management Committee will be holding Meetings with the Members of their Electorate to discuss the Race Program following the Establishment of the Lines of Flight for 2008, at the Lines of Flight meeting Wednesday 29th August 2007 -7.30 pm – S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Headquarters.

3. VIN BLANDEN MEMORIAL RACE:

This year’s Vin Blanden Race will be held from Berrigan (2) – 22nd September – One (1) Bird Nomination - $5.00 – S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Trophy.

‘VB’ to be placed alongside Nominated Bird on Nomination Sheet.
 

4. ELECTRONIC TIMING SYSTEM:

The Management Committee have approved the following:-

Association Member’s whose Electronic Timing System malfunctions or requires repairing, shall be permitted to enter S.A.H.P.A. Inc. Races using a registered receptacle continuous running clock and rubbers on their Birds for the duration of time that the Electronic Timing System is being repaired.

Members who find themselves in this Position must notify the S.A.H.P.A. Inc Clock Chairperson or General Secretary, advising of the circumstances before utilizing the above.

The Meeting was conducted on a Group Basis, with many positive ideas from the Members attending.

Nominated Group Delegates are asked to present their finalized copy of the proceedings on the above Topics to the General Secretary as soon as possible, so as all information can be collated and reviewed.

6. ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOW – EXHIBITION STAND:

Once again Mr B Mahomet has kindly volunteered his Services for this year’s Royal Adelaide Show Exhibition Stand.

If any Member would be able to assist Mr Mahomet, by volunteering a few hours in the afternoon it would be greatly appreciated.

The Exhibition Stand endeavours to promote the Sport of Racing Pigeons to the General Public.
