MINUTES OF THE S.A.H.P.A INC. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
MEETING HELD AT THE S.A.H.P.A. HEADQUARTERS ON
SUNDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER – 5.30 PM

1. Chairperson opened Meeting at 5.35 pm  Attendance:  Mr. D.Thalbourne (Chairperson) Mr. R. Chapman (Vice-Chairperson) Mr. J. Cock, Mr. P. Couzner, Mr. K. Pridham, Mr. W. Moyle, Mr. R. Fewings, Mr. R. Seedsman (General Secretary) Mrs. C. Myers (Assistant Secretary).

5. Treasurer’s Monthly Report:

The Treasurer presented the Profit & Loss Statement for the period December 2002 through to August 2003, explaining that the Operating Profit is up as compared to the same period last year.

Caution is still required with the Freight Nominations for the last four (4) Races, and payment of 2003 Honorariums that will have a bearing on the future Operating Profit.

6. CORRESPONDENCE IN:

1. Letter from Lynne James Project Officer from Glenside Campus –
Requesting a release of Pigeons at the Glenside Campus to celebrate World Mental Health Day.  Action:  Secretary to liase and organize the release of Pigeons with the Project Officer – Miss Lynne James.

2. Convoyer’s Reports from – Farina Open, The Twins Booroorban S.A.D. & Booroorban Open.  Action:  Secretary to file for future reference.

3. Letter from SAFER Industries – Enclosing two Emergency Procedure Guides.  Action:  Emergency Procedure Guides to be placed at Strategic Points within the S.A.H.P.A. Hall for quick reference.

4. Letter from the Hyde Park Racing Pigeon Club – Seeking
Clarification in regards to one of their Members clocking their bird in Hole Four (4), that occurred on the Twins Race – 30th August, 2003.  Action:  The Management Committee recommend that the Result stands.
 

5. E-mail from Mr. R. Caesarowicz (Administrator/Loft Manager –
Southern Vales Double) – Seeking approval to issue (4) S.A.H.P.A.
Certificates of Merit to the first four (4) arrivals from the Farina event
On 16.8.03.  Action:  The Management Committee acknowledge the performance of the Four Birds in question, but have stopped short of approving the Certificates of Merit due to the fact that the Southern Vales Double Event from Farina was not flown under S.A.H.P.A. Rules & Regulations.

7. CORRESPONDENCE OUT:

1. Letter to the Loxton Homing Pigeon Club – Advising of the
Approval to Transport their Birds on the S.A.H.P.A. Main Unit for the Morundah, Coober Pedy and Temora Events.

2. E-mail to Mr. G. Harris – Thanking him for his Correspondence
Regarding three Issues.

3. Letter to the Elizabeth Racing Pigeon Club – Thanking them for
Their Correspondence in regards to the Pre-paid Nomination Proposal.

4. Letter to the Smithfield Inv. Racing Pigeon Club – Thanking them
For their Correspondence in regards to the Pre-paid Nomination Proposal, also enclosing the Results of the Investigation into the
Mishandling of their Birds on the Hampering Night for Carrieton on
The 19th July 2003.

5. Letter to Mr. R. Wilson (Life Member) – Thanking him for his
Trophy Donation.

6. Letter to the Special Races Committee – Enclosing a Cheque for
Payment of Cock Bird Special Nominations received on the 14th
August 2003.

7. Letter to Mr. M. Brown – Solicitor acting on behalf of the
S.A.H.P.A. Inc. – Advising that the Association maintains its position
In regards to the Termination period handed down to Mr. J. Nisbet.

8. Letter to Lynne James (Glenside Campus) – Requesting a $50.00
Trophy Donation for the Organizing and Release of Pigeons in
Celebration of World Mental Health Day on the 10th October 2003.

8. GENERAL BUSINESS:

1. Secondary Transport Unit

Mr. P. Couzner to make enquiries in regards to a Unit/Trailer that may be on the market shortly.

Mr. P. Couzner to investigate as to Bird Capacity, Purchase Price, On-going Running Costs etc., and report back to the Management Committee.

2. Vin Blanden Race

This Years Vin Blanden Race will be held from Coober Pedy on the 4th October 2003

1 Bird Nomination - $5.00 - Marked *VB* On your Nomination Sheet.
Winner Takes all Prize Money plus S.A.H.P.A. Trophy.

4. Royal Show Stall

The Management Committee would like to thank Mr. B. Mahomet and Volunteers who gave their time to help at this years S.A.H.P.A. Inc’s Information Stand at the Royal Adelaide Show.
 
 
 

5. Compulsory Pigeon Pox Vaccination for 2004 Season

The Management Committee have moved that Vaccination against Pigeon Pox for the 2004 Season will be compulsory.

Pigeon Pox Vaccine is available from the General Secretary.

7. Code of Practice

Held over until next meeting.

8. Temora 11th Oct – Morundah 12th Oct 2003

The Freight Nomination for Temora has been reduced from $2.70 per Bird to $2.20 per Bird.

9. Race Conditions

The Management Committee discussed the conditions for the Marla Race on the 20th September 2003.

The Management Committee have decided that if in the future the Temperature is likely to reach 32 degrees or above, then alternative arrangements are to be put in place, to hold the Race from a shorter distance.

10. Coober Pedy - 4th October 2003

In the event that the Temperature is likely to reach 32 degrees or above, the Coober Pedy Race scheduled on the 4th October 2003 will be held from Marree at a cost of $1.00 per bird.
